background lost in custom phone layout

This is something that happens to me often: when I convert a page to a Custom Phone Layout using “Stack elements on top of each other”, rows with a background color lose it in the mobile version. The same happens with a background image. This does not occur when using “Copy same layout”.

hey this is by design.

we can have multiple elements inside of a row.
when we say "stack elements on top of one another" then the layout gets one row per element.

so theres no way to know which row should get the bg color / bg image
it says it here in the tooltip too:

i think i wont change this
