Intro image GIF not working

Dear Armin,
today i took the time to update the lay theme and sadly found that GIFs as intro images aren't working anymore. JPGs working fine (as you say in the caption) but they are too well covering imho... ;)
Is there a way to get GIFs running again?Best, Clemens
