cant get ride of noindex tag

my site www.josephtownshend.com is getting no index tags added to all pages. even a new page.

i have no plugins except the bluehost plugin, Discourage search engines from indexing this site is unticked. I did have yoast at one point by default with any WP installation but i deleted it.

but when i inspect any page i can see </style><meta name="robots" content="noindex, follow">

not sure what to do, i cant index my site with this issue - and cannot seem to resolve.

i dont seem to have it on the home page anymore - however google search console still errors.

it is present on the about page, but not on first load - only on refresh. it appears near the sticky footer comment. very odd

if i switch theme the robots tag is not there, so is this a laytheme issue?

ok so i reuploaded my lay zip and replaced the theme with an older version and that seems to work now. very odd..

oh sorry about that! if you update lay theme again now it should be resolved

@arminunruh the noindex tag has no been readded to the theme again.

ive updatted the theme, and the no index tag is gone. hopefully it wont be re-added like last time. any ideas why this could be happening?

should i just not have yoast etc installed?

well there was a request to have noindex on pages that are footers and pages that are page overlays. and it seems that i did it wrong :O :/
i think it wont be re-added
